Fire crews from Dundee and Perth are tackling a blaze at Perth Prison.
The fire is said to have broken out in an electricity substation within the prison’s car park.
Crews from the city attended shortly after 8.15am, with the assistance of a foam unit from Dundee requested.
Scottish Hydro Electric were informed and engineers are on scene.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Prison Service confirmed the blaze was contained within the substation, some distance from any sensitive buildings.
She said there had been no impact upon the prison.
“The prison works on mains power and there has been no disruption,” the spokeswoman added.
“It can also count upon backup generators.”
