Shocking dashcam footage showing the moment a motorist nearly drove the wrong way on to a busy motorway has been posted online.
The Mercedes can be seen travelling south toward the northbound carriageway from the exit slip ramp at Bridge of Earn.
Police say the driver realised his mistake and quickly turned around to enter the motorway on the correct side, however the incident was caught on camera by a car travelling south on the correct side of the road.
Despite the potentially dangerous piece of driving, the driver of the Mercedes has not been charged.
A three minute video of the incident was posted to Youtube by user DasArab.
Local councillor Henry Anderson praised the dashcam owner for alerting police to the driver’s actions.
He said: “I am very alarmed at the actions of the red car, as a local member I am well aware of the slip road at Bridge of Earn.
“On can see at the end of the clip the signage cannot be faulted at Junction 9 Bridge of Earn slip road.
“I would like to thank the owner of the dash cam for informing the police and saving the footage for Police Scotland to view. Only with the assistance of the public can incidents similar to this be dealt with by the authorities.
“I personally think that dash cams in vehicles are a great asset, as they can give one a view of any incidents that occur.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland received a report of a Mercedes car travelling the wrong way down an access road onto the M90 motorway around 3.45pm on Saturday December 3.
“The driver quickly realised his mistake and turned around. He was later stopped and spoken to.
“Officers established this was a genuine error and the driver was provided with advice.”
