Record-breaking long-distance British cyclist Mark Beaumont cheered on pupils at The Community School of Auchterarder as they attempted to cycle the distance from Scotland to Malawi over the course of one school day.
More than 50 pupils from Primary 6 to sixth year, along with their teachers, combined their efforts on Thursday to raise funds for an ambitious trip to Africa.
In June 2018 16 pupils from the school will be going to Malawi to help in Linthipe secondary school.
When in Malawi they will be commuting to school on bikes, which will then be left with the school’s link pupils and their families. The cycle event was held to pay for the bikes.
Mark Beaumont also took part in a cycle challenge with head teacher Stuart Clyde.
