A full-scale emergency river search was sparked in Aberfeldy on Boxing Day following the discovery of an abandoned bike.
Emergency services were called to the River Tay at 6pm after the cycle was found on an embankment.
It later transpired that the red mountain bike had likely been dumped, with locals telling police that it had been there for some time.
The search came just days after a three-day operation to try to locate a man seen in the Tay at Perth.
Fayez Osman raised the alarm after hearing a person in the water as he walked along Queen’s Bridge at around 9.15pm on December 19.
Police believe the man could be missing 20-year-old Iain Guthrie who was reported missing at 8.50pm on the same day.
The search involved crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland, Tayside Mountain Rescue, HM Coastguard and the RNLI.
Iain is described as being about 5 feet 9 inches tall, of slim build with short black coloured hair and brown eyes. When last seen in Dundee Road he was wearing a dark green fleece top, dark blue jeans and dark coloured walking shoes.
Anyone with information regarding Iain or the owner of the bike is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
