Police have recovered cocaine worth an estimated £209,000 after a vehicle was stopped on the A90 near Inchture.
Officers carried out the “planned” stop on the dual carriageway, close to the truck stop on the eastbound carriageway, just before 1pm on Thursday.
Locals told of seeing at least five police vehicles at the scene and traffic was held up for a time.
Drugs were recovered from the vehicle and a further amount was found after a search of a house.
A police vehicle was damaged in the incident and was seen being loaded on to a pick-up truck.
Man, 51, due in court
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers carried out a planned stop of a vehicle on the A90 near Inchture at around 12.50pm on Thursday.
“Cocaine with was recovered from the vehicle with a further quantity also retrieved from the driver’s address.
“A total of £209,000 worth of cocaine was recovered.
“A 51-year-old man was arrested in connection and is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Friday.”
