A man was taken to hospital after a “serious” assault in Blairgowrie in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
The 37-year-old suffered head injuries in the attack on the Ericht Bridge between 1.30am and 2am.
He was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.
A police spokesperson said: “Officers are keen to trace a group of men who were in the area at the time. One of the men had his top off.
“The victim was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, for treatment to head injuries.”
The Courier understands the man was later discharged.
