An 80-year-old woman is still in hospital after suffering serious head and leg injuries while being struck by a car on the outskirts of Perth.
Police confirmed the woman, who has not been named, continues to receive treatment at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, following Tuesday’s accident on the A94 near the Gannochy area of the city.
The incident took place at 12.40pm and involved the 80-year-old female pedestrian and a green Land Rover towing a trailer.
A police spokesman said: “The woman remains in Ninewells Hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.”
She had been rushed to hospital following the accident. The road to Scone was closed in both directions as a result, with traffic being diverted into Keir Street, Perth, and along the A93 into Old Scone.
Accident investigators attended at the scene, with the road re-opening at around 4pm on Tuesday.
Several people posted messages on social media, wishing the elderly woman a “speedy recovery.”
Julie Craig wrote on Facebook: “Reduced speed limit and a pedestrian crossing is the answer. Old folk and kids need to cross this busy road every day.
“Hoping the lady makes a speedy recovery.”
And Claire Dack added: “Thoughts are with the lady and her nearest and dearest – hope she makes a speedy recovery. And obviously if this was an accident with no speeding involved, my thoughts are with the driver as well.”
Anyone with information on the incident should contact the police on 101 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
