The southbound carriageway of the M90 between Bridge of Earn and Glenfarg had to be closed for three hours after a pick up truck bust into flames.
Three fire crews were sent to tackle the blaze, which broke out shortly before 10am on Monday.
The southbound carriageway of the motorway was closed causing major tailbacks and delays for motorists.
Drivers travelling northbound were also warned to take care due to blowing smoke.
Police were at the scene as traffic management procedures were put in place.
No injuries
Fire services later confirmed that no injuries were caused despite ferocity of the blaze.
Both southbound lanes on the M90 were later reopened at around 1.15pm but traffic remained heavy in the area for some time afterwards.
