A Perth city centre restaurant has been put up for sale following its sudden closure.
Grand Italia on George Street has been placed on the market for £295,000.
The venue had been run by Mario Diana and his wife for more than a decade.
No reason has been given for the closure but branded signs outside have been taken down, the venue emptied and the front repainted.
The premises are being advertised as a freehold.
The listing describes the restaurant as having been “successfully run… for the last 12 years, during which they have created a respected and well-patronised restaurant which benefits from tremendous levels of repeat custom”.
It says the site would “suit a variety of different trading styles or international cuisines”.
Karen Livingston, assistant at the West End Gallery across the road from the restaurant, saw it being emptied last week.
She said:Â “It’s such a shame for Perth. It’s another thing closing.
“At around 9.30am on Friday two large trucks arrived, then all I could see was kitchen equipment being loaded on to this van.
“It happened in a matter of hours, and now it’s all gone.
“There wasn’t even an announcement or anything, it’s so sad.
“It was such a great local spot, it’s awful to see it go.”
Grand Italia was ranked the 10th-best restaurant in Perth on Tripadvisor and had ratings of 4.5 out of 5 from nearly 1,000 reviews.
The Courier has been unable to reach the restaurant’s operators for comment.
