An elderly woman has been taken to hospital following an accident on the A85 Perth to Crieff road.
Police have said the incident, which involved one vehicle, took place at 12.50pm between Main Street, Methven, and the turn-off for the A822 Gilmerton road.
The road is currently closed as a result and diversions are in place.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said the car involved was a silver Vauxhall and that the woman was taken to hospital by ambulance staff.
“A woman in her seventies was treated by paramedics at the scene and then taken to hospital by ambulance staff,” she said.
“There are no details of her injuries at this time.”
Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed they attended the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the woman after she had been trapped in the vehicle.
They removed the roof of the car to get the woman out.
BEAR Scotland have put diversions in place for motorists.Traffic in Perth is being diverted via the A9, while traffic in Crieff is being diverted to Muthill, Gleneagles and then the A9 at Greenloaning.
The air ambluance was called for and arrived at the scene but it’s been confirmed that it was not required to help deal with the incident.
