More than 1,400 people visited the opening evening of the Norie-Miller Walk Light Nights in Perth.
Despite poor weather, visitors turned out in their droves for the Burns-themed event on the banks of the River Tay.
The highlight of the evening was a display by fire jugglers, who performed accompanied by bagpipe music.
Acrobats from Adventure Circus got in on the act, showing off their aerial gymnastic skills. Also taking part were a lone piper and Highland dancers and the Perth and District Pipe Band.
The whole event was given enthusiastic thumbs up by visitors, who took to social media to sing its praises.
Catherine MacDonald wrote: “Great fun despite the grotty weather”, while Annelie Carmichael said: “We loved this and will be going again! Great event for a winter’s evening” and Nicola Liddel added: “Well worth a visit – beautiful lights in lovely surroundings by the river, even though we got drenched.”
The Light Nights are a continuation of the Perth 2021 Community Cultural Celebration Day, which took place in November.
Norie-Miller walk will be lit up every night between 3pm and 10pm until St Valentine’s day, when it will culminate on a romantic food and drink event.
The council promises that the look and feel of the riverside walk will change throughout the run, making it “perfect for return visits”.
There will also be special theme nights running from 5pm-9pm to mark Chinese New Year and St Valentine’s Day.
The celebration of Chinese New Year on Monday night, will feature firecrackers and Chinese arts demonstrations along the riverside.
