A number of services and attractions across Perth and Kinross will be closed for the Queen’s funeral on September 19.
The day has been declared as a bank holiday and will mark the last day of the mourning period, with employers encouraged to give staff the day off.
Recycling centres, public toilets, sports centres, swimming pools, community centres and the city’s crematorium and cemetery will shut for the day as a mark of respect.
Attractions including castles, museums and galleries will also close. Nationally, schools and nurseries and a number of retailers will shut.
Here’s a list of all the closures and changes you can expect in Perth and Kinross.
Health services
- GP surgeries will be closed.
- Vaccination centres will remain open for those with an appointment. If you wish to reschedule call 0800 030 8013.
- Emergency, urgent and cancer services, including urgent cancer procedures, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, renal dialysis, urgent inpatient diagnostics and urgent laboratory services will continue to run.
- Some planned routine procedures and routine outpatient procedures will not go ahead. Patients affected will be contacted directly.
- A small number of community pharmacies in Tayside will be open. More detailed information on this will follow.
- Many dental practices and opticians will be closed. You’re advised to check with your own dentist/optician if you have an appointment for Monday.
Tourist attractions
So far, the following Perth and Kinross businesses have announced they will close:
- Scone Palace
- Black Watch Castle and Museum, Perth
- Dunkeld Cathedral
- Huntingtower Castle
- Tulliibardine Chapel
- Blair Castle
- Blair Athol Distillery
- Scottish Crannog Centre
- Perth Museum and Art Gallery
- The Ferguson Gallery, Perth
- House of Bruar, Blair Atholl
Council services
- No bin collections. There are no alternative arrangements, though “a reasonable amount of bagged excess waste at the side of green-lidded bins” will be taken on the next collection date. Excess recycling from blue-lidded bins can be taken to recycling points or recycling centres when they re-open.
- Housing repairs. Any planned repairs and improvement work due to take place on September 19 is postponed and services will be in touch with tenants to provide alternative dates. In case of emergencies, the normal out of hours emergency repair process should be followed by calling 01738 476000.

Bus services
- Stagecoach is working its way through any changes to services during the period of national mourning, including on the day of the funeral.
National closures
The following national chains have closed their stores and branches unless otherwise stated:
- Tesco: Larger stores closed but convenience stores and petrol stations open from 5pm. Online orders cancelled.
- Asda: Stores closed until 5pm and online deliveries cancelled.
- Sainsbury’s: Larger stores closed but convenience stores and petrol stations open from 5pm.
- Morrisons: Stores closed but petrol stations open from 5pm.
- Co-op: Stores closed until 5pm.
