Perth needs to own up to its own shortcomings and failings if it is serious about winning the City of Culture crown.
Leading designer Wayne Hemingway had some uncomfortable truths to tell Perth and Kinross Council as it finalises its bid for the 2021 title.
The local authority, he said, must highlight negative aspects of the region as well as trumpeting its many achievements and attractions.
Mr Hemingway, the co-founder of the iconic Red or Dead brand, was last year appointed technical adviser to the Perth City Development Board and is helping coordinate the Perth2021 campaign.
He spoke out at the city’s AK Bell Library as work gets under way on the 30-page application, which has to be submitted to City of Culture competition judges by the end of April.
