The family of missing Perth man Winton McNab have been informed after a body was found at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the Highlands.
Winton, 86, also known as John, was reported missing last week with a public appeal launched to trace him on Saturday.
Officers searching for him said he was last seen in the Perth area at around midday on September 13.
But in an update they said the missing Perth man’s family had been informed after a body was found at the scene of a crash on the A887 at Invermoriston at around 1.20pm on Sunday.
Police say formal identification is yet to take place but Mr McNab’s family have been made aware of the discovery.
Road closed for more than five hours
The A887 between Invermoriston and Bun Loyne was closed for more than five hours following the collision.
Officers are appealing for help following the incident, with anyone who has information asked to come forward.
Sergeant David Miller from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries into the circumstances of what happened are under way and our thoughts are with John’s family and friends.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen John’s grey Mercedes B class between September 13 and 18 to contact police.
“I also appeal to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible as you may have captured something that could assist our investigation.
“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 1660 of 18 September.”
