St Johnstone FC are investigating claims a group of Celtic fans aimed abuse at teenage members of staff at McDiarmid Park.
The incident is said to have taken place during the Saints’ home game in Perth on Saturday.
Social media posts after the game claimed that a number of Celtic fans aimed abuse at four teenage girls who were working at a kiosk in the stadium.
Celtic fans allegedly threw food at St Johnstone staff
According to the posts, the Hoops supporters threw food at the girls — who are believed to be around 14 years old — and verbally abused them.
It is understood that stewards at the match were forced to get involved, escorting the teens away from the supporters before closing the kiosk.
Some have also claimed that police were involved, however, a spokesperson said nothing had been reported to officers.
The disturbance took place during Celtic’s 2-1 win against the Saints.
Tensions were high during the game, with a late equaliser from St Johnstone being trumped by an injury time goal from the Hoops’ Giorgos Giakoumakis.
Club ‘conducting process’ following reports of abuse
St Johnstone have now launched an investigation into the matter.
A spokesperson said: “The football club is aware of an incident which took place during Saturday’s fixture against Celtic.
“We are conducting a thorough process into the matter.”
Celtic FC have been contacted for comment.
