Plans have been tabled to restore the top floor of a Highland Perthshire hotel.
Fisher’s Hotel in Pitlochry was evacuated in the early hours of New Year’s Day when a section of its roof went up in flames.
Staff were praised for getting all 200 guests to safety, while around 55 firefighters were scrambled from across the country to tackle the inferno.
Now hotel bosses have applied for listed building consent to carry out repairs to fire-damaged rooms on the third floor.
The work will involve a full restoration of the area with new windows, as well as temporary vehicle access to allow construction crews onto the site.
In a submission to council planners, a spokesman for Construct Architects said the building had been made safe.
He said: “The fire report was inconclusive, but the indications were that the fire spread in the cavity between the lath and plaster and the stonework of the gable wall.
“The third floor roof between the two gable walls was destroyed. A large number of the third-floor joists were fire-damaged and required to be replaced.”
He added: “The general philosophy in restoring the third floor and roof structure is to replace like-for-like where possible, and also pay homage to the original corridor and eight-room layout of the 1900s.”
It is believed a Hogmanay firework may have sparked the blaze.
