Medics rushed to tend to the victim of a horrific smash on the central reservation of a busy dual carriageway between Dundee and Perth.
Motorists came to a standstill as emergency crews rushed to the scene of the one-vehicle crash on the A90 eastbound near Inchture around 2.30pm on Tuesday.
All lanes in both directions were temporarily restricted after the car flipped on the Dundee-bound carriageway.
Drivers experienced delays of up to 15 minutes before all lanes were cleared at around 5pm.
‘A car was flipped – there were loads of emergency vehicles responding’
One passing motorist described how he watched in horror as a woman was treated by medics on the central reservation.
He said: “A car was flipped on to its roof and had come to rest near the central barrier on the Dundee bound side of the carriageway.
“There was loads of emergency vehicles responding, I had to make way for a police car and a fire vehicle heading westbound to the accident scene.
“Traffic was moving westbound very slowly but was completely stopped eastbound.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Officers were called to a report of a car on its side on the central reservation of the eastbound A90 close to Inchture around 2.30pm on Tuesday.
“Emergency services are currently at the scene.”
The extent of any injuries is not yet known.
