Council bosses have assured motorists that one of Perth’s busiest streets won’t be closed next week – after blundering workmen put road signs in the wrong place.
Yellow signs warning drivers about a road closure on Monday appeared on Atholl Street several days ago.
But after a query from The Courier, Perth and Kinross Council admitted that the signs had been put up “in error”. They have now been removed.
It is believed the signs were meant to have been installed at the much quieter Curfew Row, between Mill Street and Blackfriars Wynd. The work, part of the Mill Street cultural quarter, will see the lane closed for two months.
A diversion route for pedestrians will be put in place.
