A section of the A9 south of Perth has reopened after a vehicle fire.

The northbound carriageway at Cairnie Braes was partially closed, at the junction with the B934.

The incident happened at around 5.30pm on Thursday.

The northbound carriageway fully reopened shortly after 7pm following the incident.

Traffic Scotland had earlier warned drivers to expect delays, with traffic building in the area.

It has asked motorists to take care on approach and use alternative routes if possible.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We got the call at 5.20pm to reports of one car on fire on the A9.

“Two appliances were sent, one from Auchterarder and one from Perth.

“Crews extinguished the fire and left the scene at 6.03pm.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.30pm on Thursday police received a report of a vehicle on fire on the A9 near to Auchterarder.

“Emergency services attended and there were no reports of any injuries.”
