With Christmas less than two months away, Perth’s winter festival plans have been confirmed. Here’s what to expect.
Families hoping to get into the Christmas spirit only have to wait until November 19 for Perth’s festive fun to begin.
Forced into a two-year break due to coronavirus it promises to be bigger, better and brighter than ever with a long list of free events ensuring fun for all.
Here’s a roundup of what to expect.
Christmas lights turn-on
The first of many free events at the festival, the lights will shine on Saturday November 19.
It will include a Chirtmas parade, starting at 5:30 from Thimblerow car park, followed by live entertainment hosted by magician, Stephen Mulhern, featuring star studded acts such as dance music artist, Cascada.
Santa’s coming to town
Santa will be sat in his grotto from Friday November 18 every weekend until December 14 at Horsecross Plaza.
Every child under 12 will be entitled to a free present from Santa and they’ll have a chance to give him their Christmas list.
St Andrew’s Day celebrations
The weekend of November 26 will see a range of St Andrew’s Day-themed excitement.
On the Saturday there will be jazz and swing performances on the Horsecross Plaza and a multicultural Mela market at St Paul’s.
Sunday will see acts, including The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, take the stage, followed by a pipe band parade in the evening.
There will also be street entertainers and children’s ride across the city centre this weekend.
Festive market
A new addition for 2022, the festival will now have stalls for local traders to sell a range of goods.
Christmas cabins will line King Edward Street and High Street and are open every weekend from November 20 to December 4.
Fancy a boogie?
Dancing in the streets of Perth is an option this year, with a silent disco planned at St Paul’s.
You can dance the night away every weekend from November 20 until December 4.
The discos are free but will need to be booked. Organisers say they will release more details on how to book soon.
