Starbucks has opened a drive-thru store in Blairgowrie.

The coffee chain has served its first customers at the Westfield Retail Park in Perth Road.

It becomes the third big-name brand to launch on the site this year after Lidl and Home Bargains.

The company says the new store will be open between 6am and 10pm on weekdays, and 7am to 10pm on weekends.

New jobs

The drive-thru will be operated by East Lothian-based franchisee Burton & Speke.

It will create up to 13 new jobs, including a manager’s position with a £31,000 salary.

As well as its usual array of coffees, a seasonal Christmas menu will be served.

These include the new toffee nut cream cold brew and festive items including the pigs under blanket roll and toffee nut muffin.

Special offers

The drive-thru officially opens on Thursday, November 3, though there were anecdotal reports of customers in the shop on Wednesday.

Andrew Hay, director of operations at Burton & Speke Ltd, said: “There will be special offers available to customers on the opening day.”

Lidl and Home Bargains have quickly become established locally since opening in February and July respectively.

It is just 13 months since local councillors, including the then Perth and Kinross Council leader Murray Lyle, attended the site to “break ground” as construction of the Lidl got underway.
