Met Office forecasters are warning of potential flooding after issuing a yellow warning for rain across parts of Angus and Perthshire on Tuesday.
The alert covers several areas including Forfar, Kirriemuir, Pitlochry and Aberfeldy.
The yellow warning is in place between noon and 9pm on Tuesday.
The alert also says bus and train services will “probably” be affected with extended journey times.
Motorists are also being warned to take extra on the roads, with spray and flooding likely to impact conditions.
A Met Office statement said: “A band of rain will move east across Scotland Tuesday becoming persistent across the southern Highlands during the afternoon.
“Twenty to 40mm of rain is likely to fall widely here with as much as 50 to 60mm over higher ground of Aberdeenshire, Angus and Perth and Kinross.”
Across Tayside and Fife the weather is expected to stay fairly settled on Monday night before the heavy rain arrives Tuesday.
Downpours are forecast across the area, including in Dundee, from 10am and are expected to last throughout the day until 11pm.
