Events have been planned for Perth’s annual 16 days of activism against gender based violence, including details of the Reclaim the Night march.

The campaign will run between November 25 and December 10 to mark the global movement with this year’s theme confirmed to be “protecting people”.

The 16 days of activism will be launched at Perth Concert Hall by Deputy First Minister and Perthshire North MSP John Swinney, alongside a performance by Rock Choir.

One of the main events, the Reclaim the Night march, will take place on December 1.

Mr Swinney said: “I am pleased to launch this year’s campaign and to lend my whole hearted support to preventing and eliminating gender based violence.

“It is important we all continue to send a clear and unequivocal message to perpetrators that such abuse is unacceptable, whilst also highlighting that there are avenues of support available for victims.

“I am thankful for the efforts of all those involved in organising this year’s campaign, and I commend them for the important work they are doing to help address an issue that plagues the lives of too many people.”
