Upcoming roadworks near Dunkeld will force motorists to take a mammoth 45-mile-long diversion.
A half mile stretch of the A822 near Inver and the A9, between Ladywell Cottage and Inver Branch Road, will be shut for two weeks for resurfacing work.
The road will be closed between 9am and 3pm, with temporary traffic lights in place when work is not being carried out.
Subject to weather conditions the work is planned to start on Wednesday and end on December 14.
No work will take place at weekends.
Diversion route
A lengthy diversion route is to be put in place throughout, taking people as far as the Bankfoot junction on the A9.
Those travelling east will be forced to take an almost 46-mile-long detour, while those heading west will face a 33-mile-long diversion.
Access to properties within the area work will be maintained, as will pedestrian and emergency access, but residents are being warned of delays.
A Perth and Kinross Council spokesperson said: “We would apologise for any inconvenience as a result of these works and will do our best to keep disruption to a minimum.”
