Two men have been injured and a cow has died after a crash on the A9 south of Perth.
The collision happened just south of the Broxden Roundabout at around 7.10am on Tuesday.
The incident involved a white Ford Transit van, a silver Isuzu D-Max towing a trailer with cattle on board, and a black Audi A6.
The drivers of the Audi and the Isuzu were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, though the extent of their injuries is not known.
Police have confirmed a cow was put down at the scene.
Emergency services including police, two ambulances, fire crews and a special operations team were sent to the crash.
The road was closed in both directions between Broxden Roundabout and Cairnie Brae for about three hours.
Onlookers reported seeing a second collision nearby involving one of the cows.
One witness said: “I saw police waving for the cars to slow down because there were cows on the road.
“I put my hazards on and stopped, then I heard this huge bang.
“Someone had hit a cow on the other side of the road.”
The incident also led to long queues on the A9 at the turn-off for the A85 for Crieff as drivers tried to use a different route.
Police are now appealing for information on the crash.
Constable David Gray of the road policing unit said: “Inquiries are ongoing into the cause of this crash.
“I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that may assist our enquiry to contact us.
“We are also keen to obtain any dashcam from motorists driving on the road around the time of the crash.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 7.14am to attend an incident on the A9.
“We dispatched two ambulances and our special operations team to the scene.”
