A body found near a Perth beauty spot is thought to be that of a pensioner missing for nearly a year.
Officers say the family of John Baikie have been informed following the discovery in the Kinnoull Hill area on Friday.
There are not though to be any suspicious circumstances.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1pm on Friday, police were called to the Kinnoull Hill area of Perth, following the discovery of a body.
“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
“Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of John Baikie, who was reported missing in May 2022, have been informed.”
Police released CCTV images last June as part of an appeal following Mr Baikie’s disappearance.
The 75-year-old was last seen in Perth city centre on February 8 2022.
On Friday, witnesses reported seeing police activity just off the dual carriageway where the M90 meets the A90.
A passer-by said: “I was surprised to see such a big police presence in the layby as I was driving out of Perth.
“There were several police vehicles and police in the layby just as you come off the slip road.
“It really made me wonder what was going on.”
