A resident living near Perth Grammar School says she is “living in fear” due to ongoing trouble in the area.
It comes after two pupils were attacked in woods close to the school and the Muirton resident said she “regularly” faces verbal abuse from teenagers. in the area.
It is not known whether the pupils were injured following Friday’s assaults and police have not confirmed whether the incidents – which happened in woodland just off Gowans Terrace – are linked.
One woman living near the school said the behaviour of pupils at the school has her “living in fear”.
She said: “There is trouble here with the kids at the school quite often, we see fights regularly.
“I’ve had things directed at me sometimes too, sometimes racist things.
“I just hurry inside my house and try to avoid them.”
Police investigating Perth Grammar assault claims
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed an investigation has been launched into both assaults.
They said: “Officers are investigating a report of two assaults in woodland near Gowans Terrace, Perth in the early afternoon of Friday.
Some neighbours suggested anti-social behaviour in the area could be partly related to a “rivalry” with pupils at nearby St John’s Academy.
One said: “One day I was sitting working and I heard a commotion at the end of the day.
“I saw a big crowd of pupils heading towards St John’s Academy and it looked like they were trying to pick on one girl.
“One of my neighbours has saw things happen when she’s been out too. It’s absolutely horrendous.”
A Perth and Kinross Council spokesperson declined to comment due to the ongoing police investigation.
Claims of bullying at Perth Grammar School
It comes just days after The Courier reported how a mum says she is home schooling her son after he was allegedly assaulted on several occasions at Perth Grammar School.
She claims the S3 pupil has been targeted by other boys, with his head hit off a brick wall during one attack.
The case is the latest to emerge since we began highlighting bullying and violence in schools in the wake of a horrifying video of a girl being assaulted in a classroom at Fife’s Waid Academy.
