A small army of stormtroopers invaded the Community School of Auchterarder as it celebrated Star Wars Day in style.
They were greeted by more than one Chewbacca and a number of Leias as youngsters dressed up as their favourite characters to mark 40th anniversary of the original 1977 movie ‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’.
Pupils of all ages enjoyed special Star Wars-inspired lessons throughout the week and there was a screening of the film for the secondary school.
Looming over everyone was the ultimate intergalactic baddie, Darth Vader, this time played by school head teacher Stuart Clyde.
He said: “Because Star Wars references are deeply embedded in popular culture, we saw the 40th anniversary of the release of the first film as an ideal opportunity to give this phenomenon greater focus.
