The “broken” mum of a Perth man who died in an incident at the weekend says the whole city is “hurting” over his loss.
Cameron Rae, 20, was found with serious injuries on South Methven Street on Saturday night.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Mum’s tribute to ‘funny’ son
An 18-year-old man is due to appear at Perth Sheriff Court on Tuesday (today) in connection with Cameron’s death.
A 17-year-old male youth, who was also arrested over the incident, has been released pending further inquiries.
Cameron’s mum Kerry Burgess says her son – who recently passed his driving test – will be “forever 20”.
Speaking to The Courier, she said: “I’m broken and don’t really feel like talking to anyone just now.
“Cameron was a total clown but a good, funny one. The whole of Perth is hurting.”
Kerry also says Cameron’s friends gathered on Kinnoull Hill on Monday evening to pay tribute to him.
She added: “He has amazing pals.”
In an earlier post on social media, Kerry said: “Fly high my boy. We were so, so proud of you son.
“I will always love you my wee cheeky Cammy. You were just a big lump of fun, always wanting a carry on.”
Tributes to Cameron have poured in since news of his death broke.
He had visited The Sandeman pub hours before he died.
Online fundraiser hits £12k
The bar’s manager Mark Stuart said: “He was a happy-go-lucky guy and always had craic with the staff.
“He’d always bring a smile to your face.”
An online fundraiser on behalf of Cameron’s family has raised more than £12,000.
Organiser Louise Guthrie said: “I have spoken with Kerry and we all agree that he deserves the best send-off.”
