Several Perth city centre streets were locked down by police on Saturday night before a man was later taken to hospital.
A large number of officers and several vehicles were spotted on Kinnoull Street and nearby Foundry Lane and Union Lane.
Riot police and two ambulances were also spotted at the scene outside a block of flats, having been called at 7pm.
The roads were sealed off in several places whilst the incident was ongoing.
Eyewitnesses say police stayed for several hours, leaving at about 12.30am on Sunday morning.
One man said he saw as many as 12 police vehicles on the street.
He said: “There was a huge police presence, and a bit concerning a week after the unfortunate incident around the corner in South Methven Street last week.
“Police seemed to be reassuring people who asked what was going on and saying it wasn’t as serious as last Saturday evening.
“There must have been a dozen police vehicles between what was on Kinnoull Street, Foundry Lane and on North Methven Street. There were a couple ambulance service incident response vans and a fire engine sitting near by.
“It’s a fairly quiet back street, so wouldn’t have made much difference to traffic but I did see police having to escort some older residents through the scene to get back to their homes.
“There looked to be seven or eight riot officers all geared up, helmets on, carrying shields and going in with the so called big red key. Not something you expect to see in a quiet street like that.”
A fire engine was also parked nearby as part of the emergency service response.
One appliance was sent, having been called by police.
Police attend incident in Kinnoull Street
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The call came in from police at 7.47pm.
“We were called to assist them with a police incident. The crew were just standing by.
“They were there until just after midnight.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said a person was taken to hospital following the incident.
They said: “Around 7pm on Saturday police were called to Foundry Lane, Perth, following concerns for a person.
“Officers attended and no criminality was established, and there was no threat to the wider public.
“Emergency services were in the surrounding areas until the incident was resolved.”
