A man who chanted “bouncy, bouncy, bouncy” at police officers before challenging them to a fight has been branded “idiotic” by a Perth sheriff.
Brendan McKim made the bizarre refrain during a disturbance at his home in Tiree Place, Perth, during Covid restrictions in 2021.
Fiscal depute Dev Kapadia said officers were called to the property by a neighbour at about 11.30pm.
McKim, 23, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and cannabis, the prosecutor said.
“It was established that he had been – as the police described it – larking about, and making noises, which resulted in the disturbance call.”
Mr Kapadia added: “Given that Covid restrictions were in place, officers were encouraging another male and two females to go back to their own properties.
“At this point, the accused became aggressive and disparaging.
“He shouted at the officers to ‘get out of his f***ing house’.”
‘Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy’
He continued: “The accused started jumping up and down and shouted: ‘Bouncy bouncy bouncy, na na na. You’re a fat baldy Tim b******.’
“This was directed at one of the officers who was larger than the accused and had a bald head.”
The court heard McKim challenged police to a fight, saying he would “take them outside and fill them in.”
Officers called for back-up as he struggled while being restrained.
McKim pled guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on March 19 2021.
‘Blacked out’
The court heard he had moved to Perth to be with his partner but has since moved back to West Lothian.
His lawyer said: “On this night, his partner was throwing a party.
“He was given drugs by someone who was unknown to him and he blacked out.
“A neighbour had called police because they were concerned for his welfare.
“He fully accepts he should not have acted in the manner that he did.
“He is very remorseful.”
Sheriff David Hall told McKim: “The police have better things to do with their time than deal with idiotic behaviour like this.”
McKim, of Mill Street, Bathgate, was fined £350.
