Eighteen people, including nine children, had to be rescued from a burning block of flats in Perth during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Fire crews were called to blaze in Rannoch Road at 3.26am.
The fire broke out in a common close and it is believed it may have been set deliberately.
Police Scotland said the incident is being treated as suspicious and a joint investigation is being carried out with Scottish Fire and Rescue.
A fire services spokesman said: “At 3.26am on Saturday, June 3, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to reports of a fire within a common close at a block of flats on Rannoch Road, Perth.
“Three appliances were immediately mobilised and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high powered hoses to extinguish the fire.
“A total of 18 casualties were safely evacuated and handed into the care paramedics.”
No-one has been injured.
