Largely fine weather greeted one of the most prestigious events on the Scottish racing calendar.
Thousands descended upon Perth Racecourse as Gold Cup day brought bumper crowds to the Scone parklands.
The event built upon the promise of May’s record-breaking Ladies’ Day, which was attended by more than 6,000 people.
Sunday’s £80,000 prize pot also made it Perth’s richest day of the year and one of the of the most valuable day’s racing throughout the whole British summer jumping programme.
That helped to attract some of the UK and Ireland’s top jockeys, horses and trainers to the event.
Organisers were delighted by the calibre of stars attracted to Perth.
Perth Racecourse also made great efforts to give the entire day a family feel – despite heightened security measures in light of the UK’s terror threat level.
Visitors of all ages enjoyed food and entertainment alongside the race card, which delivered some hugely exciting horse racing.
Living up to its billing as the feature race, the Horizon Parking City Of Perth Gold Cup Handicap Chase proved one of the highlights of the Gold Cup.
It saw Beeves and Aerlite Supreme trade first place before the former eventually triumphed on the line.
