A helicopter has been called in to assist police following an armed robbery at the Gleneagles Hotel in Auchterarder.
The Mappin and Webb jewellery store in the five-star venue was targeted today, with a display window allegedly smashed with a hammer.
Police have confirmed that four masked men carried out the daring raid and made off with high-value watches in what they called a “shocking” crime.

Police officers are now thought to be seeking a getaway vehicle.

Crime gangs have targeted the retailer before, with the Old Course Hotel shop in St Andrews having previously been targeted and foiled by police.

The Gleneagles Hotel has confirmed none of their staff were hurt during the robbery.
