Perth Racecourse stalwart Sam Morshead received his MBE for services to horse racing during a ceremony at the Palace Of Holyrood.
The one-time jump jockey boasts seven Grand National starts to his name, but it was nonetheless as general manager at the UK’s most northerly racecourse that he really made his name.
Over 27 years at the race venue, Mr Morshead is credited with helping to transform its fortunes.
It is now a must-visit destination for some of the UK’s finest riders and trainers, boasting top prize purses and large crowds.
Now retired, the Dublin-born 61-year-old lives in St Fillans.
