This is the moment a Perth youngster, who is battling a rare cancer, inspired hundreds of fundraisers with her story.
Lily Douglas took to the stage ahead of Perth’s Race For Life on Sunday, where about 800 women and men donned pink in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The nine-year-old took part in the activities herself, doing so in aid of all the children she has met at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.
Hundreds of supporters were wearing T-shirts in support of Lily and Leva Stewart, who is also battling cancer.
The nine-year-old took to the stage with mum Jane, dad Scott and best pal Cerys Robertson to tell her tale.
She said the Race For Life was “really important” and that seeing all the support made her “really happy”.
Jane said her daughter had been “responding so well to the treatment” that her survival rate is now at “about 70%”.
She added: “Only two months ago we were at a dance competition, she was totally fine. She wasn’t ill or anything, she had a little bit of a sore shoulder and it just went from there.”
Lily is undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with stage four Ewing’s Sarcoma – a form of bone cancer.
She is a keen ballet, tap and street dancer, who was invited to audition for Scottish Ballet prior to her illness.
A crowdfunding page https://www.gofundme.com/support-our-lily has now raised more than £28,000 for the youngster and her family.
