Friends formed a human chain to try and save a teenager who disappeared underwater at a Perthshire beauty spot.
The swimmer was dragged down at Falls of Bruar when the water current suddenly accelerated.
A search for the young man, believed to be an 18-year-old from Newham in England, has so far drawn a blank.
He was one of a group of eight people who had been swimming in the area of the waterfall for about an hour on Thursday evening.
Emergency services, including a search and rescue helicopter, were scrambled to the scene just after 5.30pm.
The hunt was called off as darkness fell.
Police divers resumed the search at lunchtime on Thursday.
The man’s seven friends formed a chain to try to reach him in the water.
A Police Scotland said the search was ongoing and the missing man’s family had been informed.
