The final line up for both food and music at this year’s Southern Fried Festival has been announced.
With less than two weeks to go to the tenth annual event, there are still tickets available for the main stage gigs in Perth Concert Hall including Rock ‘n’ Roll Music: The Songs of Chuck Berry, Nick Lowe and Jim Lauderdale, Loudon Wainwright III and Beth Nielsen Chapman and North Star: Scotland Sings Canada.
The final line up for the free Outdoor Stage on Perth Concert Hall Plaza features some familiar faces and introduces some acts new to Perth.
Local acts on the bill include folk rockers, True Gents and Southern rockers Red Pine Timber Co, and blues six-piece Wang Dang Delta
The food offering will reflect the musical mix, with Horsecross Arts head chef Martin Buchan working with US food historian Dr Peggy Brunache.
They will bring back some old favourites including two different gumbos, red velvet cake, American Southern mac ‘n’ cheese and introduce some new flavours including Friday Night Fish Fry, slow cooked Texas style BBQ brisket, three different kinds of cornbread and pitchers of fruity boozy Alabama Slammer. There will be vegetarian, vegan and gluten free alternatives with halal chicken available on request.
Southern Fried soul food will be served up as a buffet in Perth Concert Hall throughout the Southern Fried weekend with the outdoor BBQ firing up during outdoor stage performance times.
The Southern Fried Festival is funded by EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate.
Stuart Turner, head of EventScotland, said: “Scotland is the perfect stage for cultural events, and we are delighted to be supporting the festival during its milestone tenth year.
“Southern Fried has a hugely engaging programme and the free outdoor stage, with its exciting line-up of local and international roots acts, will no doubt attract many visitors over the weekend.”
The festival runs from July 27 to 30. For tickets and info contact Horsecross Arts box office on 01738 621031 visit www.southernfriedfestival.co.uk.
