The exam achievements of young people across Perth and Kinross have been revealed.
With the anxious wait over, youngsters and their parents were poring over the results with the council hailing it overall a “good performance”.
Pupils in Perth and Kinross were awarded 2,534 National 4 awards achieving a 88.6% pass rate and 6,137 National 5 awards achieving an 80.5% pass rate. 45% of S4 pupils achieved five or more awards at National 5 level, equalling the highest level seen since the introduction of the new qualifications.

For those completing their S6 year, the number attaining one, three or five or more Highers is the highest level seen over the last seven years.
Lifelong learning convener, Councillor Caroline Shiers said: “I am delighted for the pupils in Perth and Kinross who will be celebrating today as they receive their exam results. “
“With the support of their teachers, parents and carers, the young students have worked tremendously hard over the school term to achieve these results and they should be very proud of themselves.”
St John’s RC Academy head Sean Hagney said that more S5 pupils than ever before at the school had achieved five Highers and that Advanced Higher figures had “significantly increased”.
“These results represent a great deal of hard work on the part of pupils, their families and school staff and each successful result is very well deserved,” he said.
Among those to receive their results was Perth Grammar pupil Leone Marshall, 15, who attained five National 5 awards and will return to school next year to take Highers with her eye on a career with the police.
Breadalbane Academy pupil James Carr, 16, from Pitlochry was celebrating getting five As.
“I’m really pleased,” said James, who will be school head boy in the new session.
