Film buffs will have an opportunity to revel in nostalgia when a mobile cinema showing British Pathe clips and short movies arrives in Perthshire next month.

And those lucky enough to get one of the available tickets can also enjoy a pre and post screening drinks and dinner event at an Auchterarder delicatessen, complete with authentic gin cocktails and classic dishes.

Anne Schaeflein, 36, of Corbie and Cheip deli and wine bar in Auchterder, arranged for the unique event to celebrate the second anniversary of her shop.

She said: “In 1967, the Ministry of Technology built seven of these custom mobile cinema units to tour the country, promoting modern production techniques to British industry. This one is now the last in existence and tours the length and breadth of the UK making appearances at festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as corporate and private events.

“The cinema bus, which is affectionately referred to as Audrey, brings together a unique slice of cinema and automotive history, combined together to give the audience an exciting film viewing experience unavailable anywhere else.

“Audrey will journey from Aberdeen to Auchterarder before heading home to Bicester Heritage.”

Ms Schaeflein added: “We are hosting a pre and post-screening drinks and dinner event at the deli complete with authentic gin cocktails and classic dishes,  they are even dusting off their old gramophone for the occasion should visitors fancy a dance or two.”

The mobile cinema bus will be positioned outside her shop in Auchterarder on September 9, from mid-day.

A short 15 minute session (two per hour) will cost £5 with two longer evening screenings costing £10 per person.

Tickets for the 22-seater cinema are on sale at Corbie & Cheip.
