Engineers are battling to restore power to around 1,000 homes in Perthshire.
Properies in and around Luncarty and Stanley, to the north of Perth, suffered a black-out just after 8.30pm on Tuesday.
Homes across 73 postcode areas have been affected.
SSE has told customers the outage is the result of a “high voltage fault”.
A spokesman said: “The power tripped at 8.33pm and we had our engineers on the scene by 8.40pm.
“They are investigating the cause of the incident and hope to have power restored as soon as possible.”
It was initially hoped that all supplies would be back on by 11pm, but the estimate was later revised to 1am.
