The individuals and businesses who have helped put Perth on the horticultural map this year have been honoured.
The efforts put into floral displays, gardens and projects which have improved the environment and quality of life in the Fair City were recognised when the winners of the 2017 Beautiful Perth Awards were revealed.
Beautiful Perth chairman John Summers OBE was joined by Provost Dennis Melloy at the Salutation Hotel on Wednesday night to present the certificates and trophies.
Mr Summers said: “I want to congratulate everyone who took part in our competition this year.
“Not everyone can win the trophies, but everyone here is a winner, not least Perth itself, which has looked fabulous this summer, despite everything the weather has thrown at us.
“The judges from the Beautiful Scotland Awards visited Perth recently and I was very proud to show off our beautiful city.
“If we do well in the national awards this year, it will be in no small thanks to the work done by the entrants to this local competition. To them, and to all our volunteers, sponsors and supporters, I say thank you and keep up the good work.”
The awards are based on the Royal Horticultural Society’s system of giving bronze, silver, silver gilt and gold awards to reflect different levels of achievement, and certificates are awarded to all successful entrants.
The winner of each category also received a trophy, and there were two special awards — the Endeavour trophy for the entry judged to have made the greatest community impact, and the Rosebowl for best overall garden.
This year, Beautiful Perth judges also helped assess the Gannochy Trust’s 2017 Gannochy Garden Awards, which were also presented at the ceremony.
