Perthshire adventurer and now World Record holder, Mark Beaumont, has completed his 79-day round-the-world cycle.
He arrived into the French capital at 5.45pm (BST) to raucous supporters who were keen to celebrate his success in smashing the previous record, set at 123 days.
He set off to complete the mammoth 18,000-mile journey in July and initially aimed to return in 80 days.
His family flew over from Scotland to greet him at the Arc de Triomphe finish line, with the Dundee University rector having cycled an average of 240 miles per day.
Speaking at the finish line, he thanked everyone for their “incredible” support.
“There was moments in time when I wondered whether I could go on,” he said.
“I broke a tooth in Russia and had two other crashes. You’d think I would have learned how to ride a bike better!
“I haven’t walked for two and a half months. It is going to be strange just doing things like walking the dog.
“I have been living in this bubble for so long. I’m going to see my family and maybe have a few glasses of wine.”
Day 76 was one of the toughest for Mark as he began by being sick as the punishing journey he has undertaken took its toll.
But after grabbing four-and-a-half hours sleep, he battled through another three days beating what was already an incredible record.
Mark was officially given the World Record title by a Guinness World Records representative who said he was an “incredible” human being.
He had originally set the World Record at 194 days in 2008 but this had been trumped on a number of occasions since then.
Earlier in his journey, he had also broken the World Record for the Most Miles Cycled in a Month, managing 7,031.
