Perth Theatre has unveiled a diverse lineup weeks before its reopening.
Some of the world’s most popular stage productions, shows absent from the theatre for years and a number of new works will be staged.
It begins with the traditional Christmas pantomime, Aladdin, which opens the theatre on December 9 and runs until January 6.
A month long hiatus will follow until February’s dark rural drama, Knives in Hens by David Harrower, is the next home-produced show on the main stage.
The play is the most internationally performed modern Scottish after JM Barrie’s Peter Pan.
Other home-grown season highlights in the restored Edwardian auditorium include the first performance of Shakespeare’s Richard III in Perth Theatre for nearly 100 years.
Visiting productions include Edinburgh International Festival hit, Wind Resistance, performed by Scottish singer-songwriter Karine Polwart.
The new studio will host shows for children and families and a series of short shows every Friday and Saturday in March, covering dance theatre, music theatre, comedy and storytelling.
The Monday Night Thing in the Studio will showcase live music including jazz, blues, soul and trad every Monday evening.
Before the opening, there will be a series of open days and public events to allow the theatre to test its new surroundings and facilities beginning on November 13 when the public can access its box office and the theatre café and bar.
Councillor Ian Campbell, Leader of Perth and Kinross Council, said: “I look forward to hearing from everyone who visits the theatre over the coming months what they think and the building and the range of productions being offered.”
As building teams put the finishing touches to the exterior of the extended theatre, a giant screen is showing images of the construction.
