Perth’s festive season kicked off in earnest on Saturday with a day of family fun marking the switching on of the lights.
One of the most bizarre but entertaining features was a massive community effort to rebuild the city out of cake. Individuals, schools and other groups all helped to form famous landmarks out of sponge and icing, and it all came together sweetly.
