A man is being assessed by doctors after a seven-hour stand-off with armed police in a Perthshire village.
Officers were called to a disturbance in Alyth just after 3PM on Wednesday.
Police Scotland said there were serious concerns about the mental health of a man in the High Street area of the town.
Locals said large items of furniture were thrown through the windows of a property during the disturbance.
Armed police were called in as concerns grew about the man’s condition. A force spokesman said: “We were increasingly worried that he would cause harm to himself or others.”
The incident was brought under control at around 10.30pm. The man at the centre of the disturbance was taken away by ambulance for medical assessment.
Police officers stood guard at the house afterwards. They were surrounded by debris, including smashed furniture.
