Perth College UHI is closed today due to a gas leak.
The incident took place around 3pm on Thursday and led to students and staff being evacuated from the college.
A college spokesperson confirmed that the main Goodlyburn building will remain closed today. However, she added that exams will be allowed to take place in the college’s Academy of Sport and Wellbeing (ASW).
Both staff and students have been advised to keep in touch with details through social media.
A statement issued by Perth College UHI on social media states: “All scheduled exams will go ahead, but will take place in the Academy of Sport and Wellbeing. If you are a student, please attend for your exam at the ASW reception.
“If you are a member of staff supporting these exams please report to the ASW reception.
“Further updates will be provided via social media and via text message, if the college is not to be open on Monday.”
A spokesperson for gas network company SGN confirmed their engineers had initially attended Perth College on Thursday.
“As we’re the provider of the national gas emergency service in Scotland we attended at the scene but the college’s engineers are now dealing with the matter.”
The college is scheduled to re-open on Monday but this is still to be confirmed.
