Tayside derby fans have been warned to expect severe traffic congestion around McDiarmid Park on Saturday due to new roadworks near the ground.
Three-way traffic lights have been installed while a gas leak is fixed at the junction of Crieff Road and Tulloch Terrace, near the former 208 pub.
Perth and Kinross Council said on Friday the traffic lights may cause queues and are advising motorists to avoid the area on Saturday with football traffic expected to peak before the 3pm kick-off and at the end of the game around 5pm.
Local councillors have urged the authority to suspend the works and remove the lights at these times but the council has yet to confirm whether it will do so.
A council spokesperson said: “Residents should be aware this may cause severe traffic congestion. It is recommended that this area should be avoided if at all possible especially on Saturday, when the St Johnstone versus Dundee football fixture takes place at McDiarmid Park.”
Police Scotland said: “”If attending the match at McDiarmid Park on Saturday please be aware of on-going roadworks on Crieff Road, Perth, that could potentially cause traffic congestion.”
