A man has died after falling into a burn at Carse of Gowrie.
The 59-year-old was pulled from the water by locals during a rescue effort on the edge of Errol.
He was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, where he later died.
Another man was also recovered from the burn. He was uninjured.
Police crews were called to the scene near the Grange just after 8pm on Friday.
Locals said the men had stepped off a bus moments before plunging into the icy water.
A force spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that about 8.15pm on Friday, officers attended the report of two males having gotten into difficulty in a body of water between Grange and Errol, Perthshire.”
He said: “A 59-year-old casualty was taken to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, but sadly was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
”The other male aged 34 years suffered no injuries. There are no suspicious circumstances, and as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
