The curtain has come down on a city-wide celebration of young musical talent.

More than 3,500 competitors took part in the annual Perform in Perth festival.

It was brought to a close at the weekend with a series of prize-winning solo performances at St Leonard’s-in-the-Fields Church.

A spokeswoman for organisers the Perthshire Musical Festival Association hailed the two-week event as a “fantastic success”.

She said: “First of all I would like to thank all the teachers. We have a fantastic music service in Perth and Kinross and the instructors work tirelessly to give each and every pupil the best tuition that there can be, in order for them to take part in events such as Perform in Perth.”

She went on to thank everyone who took part, their families, supporters and the judges. “We have had an array of fantastic adjudicators that have given feedback to each competitor, both constructive and rewarding,” she said. “All in all we have had a fantastic 2018 and we look forward to 2019 with hopefully more classes and competitors.”
